Bodega Mart by Isaac Tait

  • The Shed Gallery 46A Vogel Street Christchurch, Canterbury Region, 8013 New Zealand (map)

Bodega Mart is an art exhibition disguised as a classic Kiwi dairy - but with a twist.

Created by artist Isaac Tait, the concept emerged during a conversation about disability spaces and autonomy. When asked what he would do if he ran The White Room Creative Space, Isaac laughed and replied: “Turn it into a dairy.” From there, Bodega Mart was born.

Transforming The Shed Gallery into an immersive convenience store experience, the exhibition features parody art products, mysterious creations, and surreal interventions that blur the line between fiction and reality. Through humour, nostalgia, absurdity, and social commentary, Isaac explores themes of capitalism, ableism, New Zealand and American culture, and the systems we participate in every day.

Join us at the opening event for art, live music, free mystery ice cream, and miscellaneous strangeness.
